Let’s get introduced
I’m Joey Stutson
EVERY LEADER NEEDS A FRIEND,
Army Veteran | National Champion | USC Doctoral Scholar | Speaker on Leadership | Innovation Networking
“Every Leader needs a Coach”
That’s the heartbeat of my message. I’ve spent my life learning what real leadership looks like when the pressure is on. During my first year at LSU, I deployed to Iraq as an Infantryman. When I returned, I walked on and played for the BCS National Championship football team. Combat and championship shaped how I see leadership. It’s not about the spotlight. It’s about showing up for people. My story is featured in the LSU Military Museum Hall of Honor, where I’m recognized among a select group of LSU athletes who served their country. This honor is reserved for individuals who have not only played at the highest level of collegiate sports but also demonstrated distinguished military and community service. It’s a reminder that leadership isn’t just about winning, it’s about who you serve along the way.
Today, I’m finishing my doctorate at the University of Southern California. My focus is on Organizational Change and Leadership. I study innovation strategies, networking, and a silent struggle I call vocational depression. I call the solution Work-Life Passion©.
Over the years, I’ve worked with leadership expert Dr. Ken Blanchard. I’ve hosted executive roundtables and spoken to leaders across industries. My style is honest, direct, and full of real stories. I speak from experience as a preacher, Army chaplain, corporate trainer, and father of six.
I wrote Real Life Leadership: The 7 Lessons of Inspirational, Influential, and Impactful People to help leaders rediscover purpose. Follow the Lessons, People will Follow You.
Each week I share new insights through my Real Life Leadership series on LinkedIn. I don’t just speak to audiences. I speak to people’s real lives. And I’d be honored to serve yours.

My personal story of growing up without a father, discovering the truth through Ancestry DNA, and finding unexpected family connection was featured on Fox News 8’s “The Ties That Bind Us” a powerful reminder that leadership starts with knowing who you are, not just what you do.
